April 20 Giants 6 Cardinals 4


All the runs in the game for both teams were scored in the 8th inning as the Giants outscored the Cardinals at Candlestick Park 6-4.
The Cardinals Joe Hague slammed a grand slam homer in the 8th off winning pitcher Gaylord Perry (2-0) to lift the Cardinals to a 4-0 lead before a six run Giant bottom of the 8th.
The first six runners in the Giants 8th reached base and all would score as the Giants batted around.
Don McMahon pitched a scoreless 9th for his first save of the season as the Giants moved to 11-4 on the season.
Ken Henderson finished with 2 hits,2 RBI and a steal for the Giants in the win.

April 19th Giants 1 Cardinals 0

The St.Louis Cardinals may have outhit the San Francisco Giants 5-3,but the Giants pushed one run across the plate in the Juan Marichal vs Bob Gibson duel and that was the difference in a 1-0 Giants win.
Marichal's complete game shutout was needed with the Giants scoring only one run off Bob Gibson on a sixth inning double by Ken Henderson that scored Alan Gallagher from second base.
The Giants collected all three hits in the game in the sixth inning.
Marichal improved to 2-1 on the season in boosting the Giants record to 10-4 on the season....
